ELVIS PRESLEY'S PERSONAL CARBON SIGNED COPY OF 'APPLICATION FOR TRANSPORTATION OF HOUSEHOLD GOODS' 24TH FEBRUARY 1960

 

Official Original U.S. Army Document. Elvis Presley's original copy.

In 1960 Elvis Presley was ready for discharge from the U.S. Army. He was redeployed from his base in Germany to Fort Dix, N.J. stateside for discharge.

This very rare original paper/document of Elvis' 'Application for Transportation of Household Goods', dated 24th February 1960, shipment # 1-HHG. This was Elvis' personal copy with his carbon signature on it, for his personal records that he carried with him in a manila envelope from Germany back to his beloved Graceland, where it remained until after Elvis's death. There is also a carbon signature of the shipping officer on this document.

The Army H.Q. retained there original personal copy of this document with Elvis' hand written ink signature on it as well the shipping officers ink signature on it in there files. (we also own the Armys original of this document with Elvis' hand written ink signature on it as well as another signature, which you can see in the museum) 

After Elvis death Elvis cousins helped Elvis' father Vernon clean out Elvis' bedroom and dressing room on the second floor of Graceland. Most items were stored in boxes at there respective homes until after Vernon's death a couple of years later. This document came from one of those boxes.
